I’ve recently found a fantastic source of these amazing brass findings! I have no idea what they are supposed to be used for, or where they were made, but I love them. They come in a great variety of evocative shapes and sizes – just looking at the rows and rows of bins starts my head spinning with all kinds of ideas.
The earrings pictured are my Coriolis Earrings - lightweight, sexy, sophisticated!

These look like the little pendants for those things that draw spirals in the sand when you spin them round. I have no idea what that’s called!
A pendulum!
Or maybe a bob weight for finding the plumb line?
Whatever they are, they’re neat.
Thanks! I always liked to those sand pendulum things, except I ended up getting sand all over the place with them….
Those are pretty cool!
What an interesting idea…Now I’m off to read the rest of your blog!
man, i need to get out more. i love these earrings, but to me (and my hubby) the brass findings look like the tips of bullets. then i come in to leave a nice comment and read that others think it’s little plumb bobs or sand pendulums….i feel so violent now. but to be fair, i was in the army and learned to reload bullet casings at some point in life.
at any rate…earrings are a much better use for them, if that is what they were original made for! i love your work. i’m off to your etsy shop to poke around.
